Event Overview
The Last Friday of the Month 5k is a monthly race held in Hyde Park, London. It is open to everyone and organised by volunteers from Serpentine Running and Triathlon Club.
Race Details
The 5 km course is a two-lap route within Hyde Park. The start and finish are at the Boat House on the northern side of the Serpentine lake. The race is held under UK Athletics rules and has an England Athletics race licence.
Entry is only possible online in advance; there is no on-the-day registration. The entry fee is £7 for registered club members and £9 for unaffiliated runners. Races often sell out about a week before the event. The minimum age for participants is 11 years old.
Facilities and Logistics
There are no changing or shower facilities at the venue. Participants are advised to arrive in their running kit. Public toilets are available near the Bandstand, approximately 500 metres from the start. Personal belongings can be left near the start area at the participant's own risk; bringing valuables is not recommended. Refreshments are available for purchase from nearby kiosks and the Serpentine Bar and Kitchen, but the event does not provide water.
Rules and Safety
A cut-off time of 35 minutes is enforced; after this, the course is no longer marshalled and no results are recorded. For safety, participants must not wear headphones while running so they can hear marshals' instructions. Medical and emergency contact information must be completed on the back of the race number.
Results and Series
Results are published on the Serpentine website, typically on the evening of the race day. There is a year-long league championship based on age-graded results, where the best six performances are eligible for a trophy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
