Last Fool Standing
The Last Fool Standing is a running event taking place March 28–29, 2026, on the Port Gamble Heritage Trails in Port Gamble, Washington. The course consists of a 5K+ trail loop through the forest with rolling hills and wide trails.
Event Formats
Participants can choose from several formats, each with its own structure and prize.
- Last Fool Standing: Runners complete one loop every hour, starting on the hour. A cash prize equal to 10% of total Last Fool Standing registrations is awarded.
- 48-Hour Endurance: Participants run as many loops as they can over a 48-hour period, with an award for the overall mileage leader.
- 24-Hour Endurance: Runners choose a Saturday or Sunday start time and run loops within a 24-hour limit for mileage leader awards.
- 12-Hour AM Session: This session runs from morning to evening.
- 12-Hour PM Session: This session runs overnight.
Support and Logistics
A fully stocked aid station at the start/finish area provides hot food during night hours, hydration, and snacks. Crews and volunteers are welcome in designated zones.
The event basecamp is the airfield parking area at Port Gamble Trails. Primitive on-site camping may be available. Nearby lodging can be found in Kingston, Poulsbo, and Port Gamble. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
