Last Fool Standing Event Formats
The Last Fool Standing running event takes place in Poulsbo, Washington, on the weekend of March 28-29, 2026. The course is located on the Port Gamble Heritage Trails.
The event offers several timed format options for running a looped trail course.
- Last Fool Standing: Runners complete one 5K+ trail loop each hour, starting at the top of every hour on Saturday morning. The winner receives a cash prize.
- 48-Hour Endurance: Runners complete as many 5K+ loops as they wish over a 48-hour period starting Saturday morning. The runner with the highest mileage wins an award.
- 24-Hour Endurance: Runners complete as many loops as desired within a 24-hour block, choosing either a Saturday or Sunday start. An award is given to the mileage leader in each start time.
- 12-Hour AM Session: Runners complete as many loops as possible between Saturday morning and Saturday evening.
- 12-Hour PM Session: This night-running session takes place from Saturday evening to Sunday morning, with full course support.
Course and Venue
The race uses a looped course of approximately 5 kilometers on singletrack and wide trails through forested, rolling terrain. The start and finish area is at the airfield parking area of the Port Gamble Trails.
A fully stocked aid station is located at the start/finish area, offering food, hydration, and snacks, including hot food during night hours. Crew access is allowed in designated support zones. Primitive on-site camping is available at the basecamp in the airfield parking area. Nearby lodging can be found in Kingston, Poulsbo, and Port Gamble.
