Las Vegas Turkey Trot
The Las Vegas Turkey Trot is presented as one of the largest Thanksgiving runs in southern Nevada. The event attracts hundreds of families and follows the Historic Railroad Trail through the Lake Mead Recreation Area, offering a trail setting rather than an urban course.
Participants pass through the Six Tunnels on the approach to the Hoover Dam landmark, and all distances feature views of Lake Mead, one of the largest man made lakes in the world. The event takes place near the Historic Railroad Trailhead in Boulder City, Nevada.
Available distances include:
- Half marathon
- 12K
- 5K run or walk
- 1 mile stroll
The event is organized by BBSC Endurance Sports, a grassroots event crew that produces endurance and multi sport races in Nevada, Utah and Colorado. The organizer states that the race director lists safety as a top priority and that the company works with elite, age group and beginning athletes. The overall presentation emphasizes a trail experience with scenic and historic points of interest along the route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
