Laps For Love Backyard Ultra
Laps For Love Backyard Ultra is a community-focused Backyard Ultra held in Wichita, Kansas at Sedgwick County Park, with start and finish located near the Plum Shelter area. The course is a paved loop of 4.167-mile distance with minimal elevation change, described as runnable while becoming more demanding as fatigue builds. Course details and maps will be shared prior to the event, and registered runners may have opportunities to preview course options in advance.
The event follows the traditional Backyard Ultra format: a new loop starts each hour, runners must complete the loop within that hour to continue, and any remaining time between loops is used for rest, refueling, restroom breaks, and reset. Failure to start the next loop on time results in elimination. There is no preset distance or time limit; the race continues until only one runner completes a full loop alone and is declared the winner.
Runners must supply their own nutrition and personal gear. Crews are allowed at the start and finish area and may bring tents, chairs, and coolers, but pacers are not permitted. A main aid station at the start/finish will offer water, electrolytes, Ultraverse Supplements Proxima C, simple hot food options as the race progresses, and other items while supplies last. From each registration, $100 is donated to Family Promise of Greater Wichita to support emergency shelter, case management and housing stability programs, and rental assistance and long-term independence services.
