Event Format

The Laps For Love Backyard Ultra follows a traditional Backyard Ultra format. The race takes place on a 4.167-mile loop at Sedgwick County Park. A new loop starts every hour, on the hour. Participants must finish each loop within the hour to continue. Any remaining time can be used to rest. Failure to start the next loop on time results in elimination. The last runner to complete a full loop alone is the winner. There is no preset distance or time limit; the race continues until only one runner remains.

Course

The course is on paved paths at Sedgwick County Park, starting and finishing near the Plum Shelter area. It has minimal elevation change.

Aid and Support

Runners must bring their own nutrition. A main aid station at the start/finish area will provide water, electrolytes, supplements, and simple hot food as the race progresses. Crews are welcome at the start/finish area and are encouraged to bring their own supplies. Pacers are not allowed.

Charity

The event donates $100 from every registration to Family Promise of Greater Wichita. This supports emergency shelter, case management, and housing stability programs for families with children experiencing homelessness in the local community.

Awards and Items

All runners who complete at least one loop receive a finisher item. Those who register before a specified t-shirt deadline receive a t-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
