Laps For Love Backyard Ultra
The Laps For Love Backyard Ultra is a community-focused running event held at Sedgwick County Park in Wichita, KS, with the start and finish near the Plum Shelter. The event donates one hundred dollars from each registration to Family Promise of Greater Wichita to support families with children experiencing homelessness.
This race follows the traditional Backyard Ultra format. The course is a 4.167 mile loop and a new loop begins every hour on the hour. Runners must complete each loop within the hour to continue; any remaining time may be used to rest, refuel, or prepare for the next lap. Failure to start the next loop on time results in elimination. The race has no preset distance or time limit and continues until only one runner completes a full loop alone.
The course uses paved paths with minimal elevation change. Final course details, maps, and confirmations will be shared closer to race weekend, and registered runners may have the option to preview course options in advance.
Runners are expected to bring their own nutrition and supplies. Crews are allowed at the start and finish area and may bring tents, chairs, and coolers. A staffed main aid station will be available with water, electrolytes, Ultraverse Supplements Proxima C, and simple hot food as the event progresses while supplies last. Pacers are not allowed.
All runners who complete at least one loop will receive a finisher item. Runners who register before the t shirt deadline will receive a t shirt. There are no refunds or deferrals and weather in Kansas can be unpredictable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
