Lap The Valley Backyard Ultra

Event Format
Lap The Valley Backyard Ultra is an ultramarathon event. Participants must complete a 6.71 km lap within each hour to continue. The event continues until only one runner completes a final lap alone, making them the official finisher. All other participants do not finish (DNF). The event is registered with BigsBackyardUltra.com, which allows competitors to compete for world ranking status. The current course record is 37 laps.

Logistics
The event will be held at the Boyne Valley Discovery Centre in Ubobo. Participants may set up a personal rest area. Parking is available at the Discovery Centre or surrounding public spaces. A mandatory race briefing is held before the start.
Course
The lap course changes between day and night. The day lap (7:00 to 18:00) goes through Bruin Park property on dirt trails with approximately 65 meters of elevation. The night lap (18:00 to 7:00) follows the Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail as an out-and-back route with minimal elevation. The course is marked. Toilet facilities are available near the start and mid-course during the day, but not on the night lap course.
Aid and Rules
An aid station adjacent to the starting corral provides water, fruit, and some hydration products for competitors only; no cups are provided. A mid-course water station is available on the day lap. Competitors must be self-sufficient on the night lap. Support crews, eliminated competitors, and spectators are not allowed on the course. No personal aid, artificial aids like trekking poles, or stashing of supplies on the course is permitted.
Registration
Registration costs $190 for unlimited laps, with discounts available. There is a maximum of 110 participants. The minimum age to participate is 16 years and under for free (with a participating parent or guardian). Registration closes on September 9, 2026, unless sold out prior.
