Boyne Valley 50
The Boyne Valley 50 is a multi-distance trail running event held along the Dawes Range section of the Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail. The event start and finish precinct is located at the Grand Hotel Many Peaks, situated approximately 75 minutes from Gladstone. The course utilizes a disused railway corridor, taking participants through scenic sections of the rail trail including historic tunnels.
The event offers several distances to accommodate different experience levels:
- 50 km (Full out and back lap to Barrimoon siding)
- 23 km (Uphill from Many Peaks to Barrimoon siding)
- 23 km (Downhill from Barrimoon siding back to Many Peaks)
- 12 km (Taster out and back course)
The course features aid stations at Golembil and Barrimoon sidings providing water and fruit. This is a cup-less event, and participants must carry their own water bottles or hydration packs. Specific mandatory gear is required for safety, including a compression bandage for all distances and a mobile phone for the 50 km and 23 km events.
The Boyne Valley 50 is a registered UTMB Index event. Participants who complete the race receive a UTMB Index, which provides access to pre-sales for UTMB World Series Events. The event takes place in a natural setting where vehicular traffic has priority at road crossings, and sections of the trail may be dark, particularly within the tunnels.
