Lakewood Summer Meltdown 5K & 1 Mile Family Fun Run and Walk
The Lakewood Summer Meltdown takes place on July 18, 2026, on Detroit Avenue in Downtown Lakewood. The event is presented by LakewoodAlive and sponsored by Cox and serves as a fundraiser for LakewoodAlive. This edition is the 18th annual running of the Meltdown races.
The event program includes these race distances:
- Meltdown 5K : 5 kilometers; chip timing; race t-shirt; prizes for top finishers
- 1 Mile Family Fun Run & Walk : 1 mile; includes a t-shirt; intended for participants of all ages
The Meltdown 5K is held as an evening race and offers course features such as a fast course layout, live music, food vendors, and a beer garden located at the end of the course. The route passes through Lakewood’s historic neighborhoods and provides views of Lake Erie.
Registration opens March 13 and closes July 17. Fee information published for the 5K includes an early discounted rate for the first 50 entries, a presale rate, and a higher day-of rate; the 1 mile event is listed with a separate entry fee that includes a t-shirt.
