Lakewood Summer Meltdown 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run
The Lakewood Summer Meltdown is an annual community event held in Downtown Lakewood, Ohio. The gathering takes place along Detroit Avenue and features two distinct athletic events that serve as fundraisers for LakewoodAlive. The activities proceed through historic neighborhoods and offer views of Lake Erie.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5 km running race
- 1 mile family fun run and walk
The 5 km race is a chip-timed event conducted on a fast course. Registered participants for this distance receive an official race t-shirt. The event features an evening schedule with live music and food vendors located along the route. Top finishers in the 5 km category are eligible for prizes. A beer garden is situated at the conclusion of the course.
The 1 mile family fun run and walk is designed for participants of all ages. This event focuses on a more relaxed experience compared to the timed race. Registration for this distance also includes a t-shirt. Both events are centered around the intersection of Detroit and Belle Avenues.
