Lakeview Labor Day 5K Community Run/Walk
The event on Monday, Sept 7, 2026 is a community 5K run/walk held at Camp Lakeview in Seymour, IN. Standard registration is $35 with a $10 discount for registrations by August 1 and a $5 discount for registrations by September 1. Proceeds support scholarships; the event aims to raise $10,000 to help send children to camp.
The day is presented as family friendly and includes a brunch available to all participants and visitors. Camp activities are open during the morning and include mini golf, a giant slip n slide, a tire playground, a horse barn, a 9‑hole disc golf course, cornhole and other yard games. A free kids fun run (approximately 1/4 mile) is offered for children. Staff and volunteers provide on-course support and event operations.
The course is a single loop on paved roads around Lutheran Lake that starts and finishes by the Camp Lakeview dining hall. The first quarter mile includes a large hill with about 100 feet of elevation gain, followed by roughly one mile of flatter terrain and several steep rolling hills in the second half. Total ascent is listed as 324 feet and total descent as 337 feet.
All finishers receive a custom finisher medal. Race shirts are available to pre-order or to buy on race day. Overall winners in the run and walk categories receive a $30 gift certificate to the camp store; age group winners receive a free treat from the camp canteen. A pledge fundraising option is available with suggested goals such as $100, $240 for a half scholarship, or $475 for a full scholarship; virtual participation is also possible.
