Lakefront Loop 5K
The Lakefront Loop 5K is a running and walking event held at Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois. Situated on Lake Michigan, this event takes place entirely on the Pier, utilizing the Northwestern Medicine Wellness Way Fitness Trail. This trail circles the North and South Docks of the historic landmark.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5 km (Run/Walk)
- 230 m (Kids Dash)
The course is noted as being very narrow. While strollers and dogs are permitted on the course, those participating with them are required to start at the back of the group. The 5 km event includes age group awards for both male and female categories, ranging from 10 and under to 70 and over.
The Kids Dash is designated for children age 8 and under. Participants in this distance receive a race shirt, Navy Pier sunglasses, and a ticket to the Centennial Wheel.
There is no gear check available at the event. However, paid lockers are available in the Family Pavilion and near Entrances 1 and 2 for storing personal items. Pre-paid parking options are available for registration, and a validation sticker is provided during packet pick up at the Peoples Energy Welcome Pavilion. Proceeds from the event support Navy Pier's nonprofit mission to provide public programming and cultural experiences. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
