Lake Tye Challenge
The Lake Tye Challenge is a timed ultramarathon event on a loop trail around Lake Tye in Monroe, WA. The event offers three race options: 12 hour, 6 hour and 3 hour. Participants run as many full laps as they can within the chosen time; partial laps are not counted and results are determined by total completed laps. Tiebreakers use the shortest time to complete a round number of laps.
The course is a clockwise loop of about 1.75 miles with no elevation change reported. A full aid station is available at the start and finish of each lap offering water, an electrolyte drink and energy rich "ultra running food". The start and finish area includes a grass lawn for personal drop bags and canopies; canopies must be weighted down and no spikes are allowed. There is direct beach access at the venue for cooling down.
Each participant receives a wooden medal that can note achievement of common distance milestones such as half marathon, marathon, 50k, 50 miles or 100k. Event proceeds are donated to the Wild Sky Community Trails Association, a not for profit 501(c) organization that supports local trail improvement and maintenance.
