Lake Perry Trail Run overview
The event is a trail run held at Perry State Park near Meriden, Kansas. The course uses technical, rocky and hilly single-track trails through a hardwood forest. Every hill is described as runnable and each loop includes about 900 feet of elevation gain.
Distances:
- 50K four loops, each loop about 900 feet elevation gain
- Half marathon two loops
- Quarter marathon one loop
Aid and support are limited. The main staffed aid station at the start/finish area is stocked with sports drink, water, Coke, Ginger Ale and some food items. Two remote unstaffed stations (mile 2.25 and mile 4.1) provide only water. Runners are advised to carry a hydration device. Drop bags are allowed for the 50K and half marathon and may be left at labeled tables near the main aid area.
Timing and awards are manual; runners must wear their bib visibly on the front of the body. All finishers receive distance-specific medals and oval stickers, and 50K finishers also receive a Lake Perry 50K finisher trucker cap in a color of their choice. Awards are given for first through third place male and female in each distance. Shirts are provided to runners who register before May 1. The event notes lodging and dining options within 20 miles and identifies Meriden as located between Topeka and Lawrence, Kansas. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
