Lake Martin 50/50 - April 4, 2026
The Lake Martin 50/50 is a trail ultramarathon held at Russell Lands in Alexander City, Alabama, along the shores of Lake Martin. The event offers two distance options on a looped course that runs on the private Russell Forest Trail System and features rolling hills and lakeside scenery.
Distances
- 50 Mile: two full 25.09 mile laps
- 50K: one full 25.09 mile lap plus a 6.4 mile South Loop
Each 25.09 mile loop contains over 3,000 feet of elevation gain. Most hills are short, generally under 100 feet, while the main sustained climb is Heaven Hill, a roughly half mile ascent gaining about 200 feet. The full lap is divided into an 18.6 mile North Loop and a 6.4 mile South Loop, with runners returning to the Cabin Aid Station between sections.
Trails are described as runnable and non-technical by regional standards, though runners should watch for roots and sections with fist-sized granite. Each 25 mile loop includes four aid station stops, two at Heaven Hill and two at the Cabin Aid Station, supplying water, electrolytes, grab and go snacks, and hot food. A medic will be present at the start/finish area.
Logistics include packet pickup on Friday April 3 and Saturday April 4. Registration closes March 31 and shirt orders require registration by March 14. The event address is 17 Russell Farms Road, Alexander City, AL with GPS 32.764355, -85.945177. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
