Lake Martin 50/50
The Lake Martin 50/50 is a trail ultramarathon held on private lands of the Russell Forest Trail System at Russell Lands, along the shores of Lake Martin in Alexander City, Alabama. The course is a 25.09-mile loop on rolling, mostly runnable trails with roots and sections of fist-sized granite.
Each full 25.09-mile loop contains over 3,000 feet of elevation gain. Most climbs are short and generally under 100 feet, while the notable climb called Heaven Hill is about a half mile long and gains roughly 200 feet. The full loop is split into a North Loop (18.6 miles) and a South Loop (6.4 miles), with runners returning to the Cabin Aid Station between sections.
Race formats:
- 50 Mile: two full laps of the 25.09-mile course.
- 50K: one full 25.09-mile lap plus a repeat of the 6.4-mile South Loop.
Aid stations and support are provided on each 25-mile loop with stops at the Heaven Hill Aid Station and the Cabin Aid Station. Stations supply water, electrolytes, grab-and-go snacks, and hot food. A medic is present at the start/finish area.
