Lake Martin 50/50

The Lake Martin 50/50 is an ultramarathon event at Russell Lands near Lake Martin in Alexander City, Alabama. It offers two race options on a 25.09-mile loop that runs on private Russell Forest trails along the lakeshore. Address: 17 Russell Farms Road. GPS: 32.764355, -85.945177. The event is scheduled for April 4, 2026.

Distances

  • 50 Mile - two full laps of the 25.09-mile course.
  • 50K - one full lap plus a repeat of the 5.6-mile South Loop.

Course and terrain: Each 25.09-mile loop gains over 3,000 feet of elevation. The loop splits into a North Loop (18.6 miles) and a South Loop (6.4 miles). Most hills are short and under 100 feet; a notable half-mile climb called Heaven Hill gains about 200 feet. Trails are described as runnable and generally non-technical by regional standards, though runners should watch for roots and fist-sized granite on some sections.

Aid stations and support: Each full loop includes four aid station stops, with two at Heaven Hill and two at The Cabin Aid Station. Aid stations provide water, electrolytes, grab-and-go snacks, and hot food. A medic will be present at the start/finish area.

Registration and logistics: Race shirts are ordered by March 14; registration closes March 31 at 11:59 PM CT. There will be no on-site race registration after that date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
