Lake Martin 50/50
Lake Martin 50/50 is held at Russell Lands in Alexander City, Alabama, on trails along the shores of Lake Martin. The event offers two distance options:
- 50 Mile: two 25.09 mile laps
- 50K: one 25.09 mile lap plus a 6.4 mile South Loop
The course uses the private Russell Forest Trail System and features rolling hills and lake scenery. Trails are described as runnable and non-technical by regional standards, but runners should watch for roots and sections with fist-sized granite. Each 25.09 mile loop contains over 3,000 feet of elevation gain. Most hills are short and under 100 feet; the main sustained climb is a half mile ascent called Heaven Hill that gains about 200 feet. The hills are frequent and require sustained endurance.
Each full lap is split into a North Loop (18.6 miles) and a South Loop (6.4 miles), with runners returning to the Cabin Aid Station between sections. Each 25 mile loop includes four aid station stops, two at Heaven Hill and two at The Cabin Aid Station. Aid stations will provide water, electrolytes, grab and go snacks, and hot food. A medic will be present at the start/finish. Registration closes March 31 at 11:59 PM and shirt orders are not guaranteed after March 14. There is no day of race registration.
