Event Overview
The Lake Evans Triathlon takes place in Bakersfield, California. It includes standalone running events of 5 km and 10 km, alongside a wide variety of multisport events.
Distances and Events
The multisport program includes:
- Super Sprint Triathlon: 400 yd swim, 5.77 mi bike, 1.5 mi run.
- Sprint events: Triathlon (800 yd swim, 12 mi bike, 3.1 mi run), Aquabike (800 yd swim, 12 mi bike), Aquathlon (800 yd swim, 3.1 mi run), and Duathlon (3.1 mi run, 12 mi bike, 3.1 mi run).
- Olympic events: Triathlon (1600 yd swim, 24 mi bike, 6.2 mi run), Aquabike (1600 yd swim, 24 mi bike), and Aquathlon (1600 yd swim, 6.2 mi run).
- Relays are available for Sprint and Olympic triathlon distances.
- Virtual events are also offered.
Venue and Schedule
The event is held at Lake Evans within the Buena Vista Aquatic Recreation Area, southwest of Bakersfield. A preliminary schedule indicates activities begin at 6:00 AM, with packet pickup available on race day from 6:30 AM until 8:30 AM. Race start times are staggered throughout the morning, beginning with the Olympic Triathlon at 8:00 AM.
Additional Information
Participants receive a finisher's medal, event t-shirt, a finisher's meal, and can win prizes. There is a team competition. The event is hosted by a non-profit foundation. Specific safety measures include multiple kayaks, paddleboards, and lifeguards on the swim course, with EMT services on site. Volunteers receive a meal, a t-shirt, and compensation options.
