Lake Awoonga Adventure Race
Lake Awoonga Adventure Race is held at Awoonga Dam Road, Benaraby on 24 October 2026. The event is run by the Benaraby Progress Association, which aims to develop the race into an annual event that brings visitors and locals to Lake Awoonga.
The program comprises four distinct races that use lakefront and bushland terrain. The Barramundi Bush Bash is a novice team event with two-person teams competing together. The Taipan Trail is an endurance course that requires swimming; kayaks are not permitted in this race. The Goanna Gallop is a run-only course that is listed as 9.5 km long and follows bushland and rugged trail sections. The Goshawk Gauntlet is a competitive solo race with an option to kayak or swim; kayaks are available on a first come, first served basis.
Additional resources mentioned include a participant handbook and waivers, merchandise, photos, volunteer opportunities, and information about sponsors. The Benaraby Progress Association describes its broader role in community fundraising, liaising with council, holding events, and maintaining the community hall.
