La marche et la course de Joliette
La marche du Grand défoulement is a combined walk and race event to support the Fondation québécoise du cancer. It takes place on September 19 on the Sentier de l’île Vessot and the Riverain Park in Joliette. The main route is 6 km, and the meeting point is Parc Pierre-Charbonneau at 1500 boulevard de la Base-de-Roc, Joliette.
The format includes two distinct activities: walkers complete the route once, while the Backyard Challenge race asks runners to complete the 6 km loop every hour over a 12-hour period. The event is presented by Expert Finition Intérieure and is described as non-competitive and rooted in a spirit of solidarity.
The day features on-site activities and services such as music, children's crafts, food and refreshments, plus prize draws and an official photo with the event cheque presented to the foundation. Participation options include individual registration, joining an existing team or forming a new team, and participants may create personalized fundraising pages with a fundraising goal.
The event aims to recognize the courage of people affected by cancer and to support the approximately 67,500 people diagnosed with cancer each year in Quebec. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
