La Garita 200
The La Garita 200 is a 200 mile race organized by Tempest Adventures in South Fork, Colorado. The route is a large loop that begins and ends in the same location on the banks of the Rio Grande river, with a small section of a few miles that runs out and back to complete the circuit.
The course travels through the La Garita mountains and reaches elevations just under 13,000 feet. Terrain along the route includes arid pine forests, alpine tundra, and expansive mountain parks. Runners move between higher tundra sections and lower forested and park areas as the loop progresses.
