The Races
The La Chute du Diable event offers several trail running distances starting from or finishing at the Parc récréoforestier de Saint-Mathieu-du-parc, in the Mauricie region.
The available distances are:
- 1 km
- 10 km
- 22 km
- 35 km
- 50 km
- 75 km
The starts for the shorter races (1 km, 10 km, 22 km) are from the park's Amphitheatre. The 35 km, 50 km, and 75 km races start from different locations within SEPAQ Mastigouche and all finish at the Amphitheatre, making them point-to-point courses. Course maps for the 10 km, 22 km, 35 km, 50 km, and 75 km races are available online on AllTrails and as GPX files.
Technical Details
The use of trail running poles is not permitted for the 1 km, 10 km, and 22 km races. It is permitted for the 35 km, 50 km, and 75 km races. Aid stations are listed for each distance, with some along the route and others only at the finish. The 75 km race offers a drop bag service at the Pins rouges aid station.
Time limits ("cut-offs") are in place for the 22 km (6 hours), 35 km, 50 km, and 75 km distances. For the latter three, runners must leave specific aid stations by designated times.
Logistics
Parking for participants is not available directly at the Amphitheatre. For the 1 km, 10 km, and 22 km races, participants must park at the "Forget" Quarry and use a free shuttle (2-3 minute ride) to reach the start. For the 35 km, 50 km, and 75 km races, parking is at the Vallée-du-parc ski centre, with a longer shuttle ride to the start (1h10 to 1h40 travel time). Shuttles are also provided for spectators to return to the parking areas after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
