La Carrera de las Madres : community 5K run/walk in Archer Heights
La Carrera de las Madres is a 5K run/walk held on May 9, 2026, in Archer Heights, Chicago. The event honors mothers and Día de las Madres while celebrating Latino culture and community. The race is rooted in the barrio near Midway Airport and is presented as a neighborhood gathering rather than a destination event.
Registration is required online and is limited; spots may sell out. Fee tiers are Early Bird $40 (Feb 16–28), Regular $45 (March 1–April 8), and Late $50 (begins April 10 until sold out). Same-day registration is not available. Participants receive a race bib, timing chip, and an event dri-fit short-sleeve shirt; runners also receive a goodie bag, a small token, and a beverage on race day. Packet pick-up dates will be posted in early April. Timing is electronic and results are recorded when a participant crosses the finish line.
The event is open to people of all ages and backgrounds. Every participant must register and sign the required waiver; minors need an adult to register and sign on their behalf. Only service dogs are allowed on the course. Transfers between registrants are not permitted and registration fees are nonrefundable.
Proceeds support the United Neighborhood Organization (UNO) and its youth programs, including GirlsMPowered and other programs serving girls in grades 6–12. The event includes cultural elements and community activities such as live music, food, altars, and merch. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
