Kusam Klimb - Sayward, British Columbia
The Kusam Klimb takes place on Saturday, June 20, 2026 near Sayward, BC, at Salmon River Guesthouse. The full distance is sold out for 2026.
Distances offered:
- 24 km, about 1,593 m elevation gain.
- 13 km, 491 m elevation gain.
The full route is a loop that climbs over the back of Mt. H'Kusam and descends the Stowe Creek watershed. The course follows wild, rugged trails and accumulates more than 1,500 m of ascent.
There are four fully stocked aid stations for the full Klimb and two for the Mini Klimb. Aid stations will not provide disposable cups; participants should bring a reusable cup or bottle. The event enforces cutoff times at some aid stations and a 12-hour overall time limit.
Rules and logistics: the event is open to entrants aged 14 and over. Entrants aged 14 to 16 must be accompanied by a registered adult for the full duration. No children under 14 are allowed. Entrants under 18 require a parent or guardian signature. Hiking poles are permitted. No support crew or spectators are allowed on the mountain or at aid stations. Motorized vehicles are not permitted on the mountain on race day. Bib pickup requires government-issued photo ID and a wristband is used for food and drink access.
The race is held on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Kwakwaka’wakw peoples, including K’omoks, We Wai Kai and Wei Wai Kum First Nations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
