Event Details
Kunanyi Mountain Run is a three-day trail festival on Kunanyi/Mount Wellington near Hobart, Tasmania. The 2026 edition will be held from 27-29 March. This is the event's fifth edition.
Distances and Courses
The festival offers multiple trail running and walking events across three days.
Friday, 27th March
- Vertical Downhill: 9km distance with 1,150m of descent.
Saturday, 28th March
- Ultra Solo: 66km distance with 3,780m of elevation change.
- Ultra Relay: 66km relay run over six legs (7km to 12km each).
- Alpine Marathon: 46km distance with 2,360m of elevation change.
- Mountain Run: 25km distance with 1,560m of elevation change.
- Mountain Walk: 25km walking event with 1,560m of elevation change.
Sunday, 29th March
- Foothills 5km: 5km distance with 220m of elevation change.
- Foothills 9km: 9km distance with 380m of elevation change.
- Foothills 14km: 14km distance with 680m of elevation change.
- Kids Runs: Events for ages 5 to under 15.
- Guided Cultural Mountain Walk: A 1.5-hour return walk.
The Ultra Solo, Alpine Marathon, and Mountain Run courses feature aid stations. The Foothills 9km and 14km events will incorporate the Under 20 and Open categories of the Australian Athletics Mountain Running Championships, respectively.
Participant Information
Registration includes a finisher's medal, event merchandise, a marked course, on-course photos, professional timing, and access to the festival's Runhub and most cultural activities. For some events, aid stations with food and hydration are provided.
For the Ultra Solo and Alpine Marathon events, runners must meet qualification standards based on previous trail or road running performances. These qualifiers must be completed by 6 March 2026.
