The KultureCity Birmingham Race is the third annual road race presented by KultureCity, a nonprofit focused on sensory accessibility and inclusion for people with sensory needs and invisible disabilities. The event offers two distances and a virtual participation option.
- 5K
- 13.1 miles (Half Marathon)
Both the 5K and the Half Marathon start in front of the Powell Steam Plant, the planned site of the future National Accessibility Park. Both courses are chip timed and are described as flat. The event is designated sensory accessible and will have onsite support available for participants who need accommodations. Pacers are provided to help runners maintain goal paces during the Half Marathon.
Awards are given in overall and age group categories, including top overall finishers, masters division, multiple age brackets, and a team award for the largest team. All 5K and Half Marathon finishers receive a commemorative medal. Awards are based on chip time and overall winners are not eligible for age group prizes.
The event includes organized volunteer roles such as water stations and cheer stations along the course, and a Race Celebration Village after the finish for participants and spectators to gather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
