Event Overview

The Kokoda Challenge Sunshine Coast is a charity team endurance event held in Imbil State Forest on Gubbi Gubbi Country. The event starts in the town of Kenilworth. It is organized to honor the Australian Defence Force members of the 1942 Kokoda Campaign and to raise funds for the Kokoda Youth Foundation's youth programs.

Distances

Participants can choose from three distances:

  • 18 km
  • 30 km
  • 48 km

Course and Participation

The course takes teams through the Imbil State Forest. Event rules require participation in teams, with no solo entries allowed. Minimum age requirements vary by distance: 9 years for the 18 km, 10 years for the 30 km, and 13 years for the 48 km. The event features checkpoints along the routes. A support crew is allowed only for the 48 km distance at a designated checkpoint. Parking is available near the start/finish line at Kenilworth State Community College.

Fundraising and Fees

The event is a fundraising initiative for the Kokoda Youth Foundation. Each team must meet a minimum fundraising target to participate. Registration fees are required per team, with costs varying based on team size and the chosen distance. For example, a 4-person team for the 48 km event has a registration fee of $400 and a minimum fundraising target of $850.
