Kokoda Challenge - Brisbane
The Kokoda Challenge - Brisbane is a team endurance hike through D'Aguilar National Park, starting from Brookfield Reserve. Teams of 2 to 5 participants choose from three distance options and navigate a bush course with steep, hilly terrain, fire trails and creek crossings.
Distances
- 18km through D'Aguilar National Park
- 30km through D'Aguilar National Park
- 48km through D'Aguilar National Park
Each distance has an allocated maximum time to complete the course: 18km in 9 hours, 30km in 12 hours and 48km in 20 hours. Minimum ages are set per distance: 9 years for the 18km, 10 years for the 30km and 13 years for the 48km. Checkpoint numbers vary by distance: 1 checkpoint for 18km, 3 for 30km and 6 for 48km. Support crews are not used for the shorter distances; a support crew is included for the 48km event and is strongly recommended for that distance.
Teams must meet minimum fundraising targets in addition to registration fees; amounts vary by distance and team composition. The event also serves to raise funds for the Kokoda Youth Foundation and to honour the Kokoda veterans, reflecting values of courage, endurance and mateship.
