Knysna Extreme Triathlon
The Knysna Extreme Triathlon is a point-to-point triathlon that combines open-water swimming, a long road cycle, and an extended trail run. The event starts with a 5 km swim in the Knysna Estuary, continues with a road cycle that follows the Garden Route coastline for approximately 176 km, and finishes with a 50 km run along winding mountain gravel roads that conclude deep within the Knysna Forest.
Organisers revised the initial 2026 route because of storm damage and ongoing road repairs affecting sections of the original course. The cycle section runs predominantly along coastal roads offering ocean views, while the run follows gravel forest roads and mountain tracks.
Entries are limited to 100 individual athletes and 10 teams. Entry windows included a super early bird and early bird period that are now closed; standard entries ran from 1 August 2026 until entries closed at midnight on 14 October 2026. Standard entry fees are listed as Individual R5,750 and Teams R6,850.
