Knockers Solstice Trail Run
The Knockers Solstice Trail Run is a midwinter night trail event near West Hobart, based at the lookout near the Forest Road carpark on Knocklofty. The courses run through native bushland and mix wide, smooth firetrail with well built single track and some technical sections. There are views toward Kunanyi, timtumili minanya and the Derwent River, plus night views of Hobart.
Wildlife such as wallabies, bandicoots and owls may be encountered on course. The event uses recent shared use trails including the Noah's Saddle link and the new Knocksofty and Yellow Hippo Track. Courses have been adjusted to avoid the large hills at the start and to simplify the loop.
Participants are asked to bring a headtorch; a minimum of 300 lumens is recommended. Organisers also recommend wearing a red light on the back of the head and note that red dress ups are welcome. Food is available at the event hub as an on site option.
