The race provides sole funding for the Knights of Columbus College Scholarship program. Organizers state the event began in 2005 as the Peach Festival Road Race and that, to date, approximately $65,500 has been awarded in scholarships to local high school students.

Registration fees are listed with a cutoff on July 17: before that date fees are $15 for participants under 20 and $20 for participants 20 and older; on or after July 17 fees are $20 for under-20 and $25 for 20 and older.
