Event Overview
The Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue 5K Meow-A-Thon and 1 Mile Whisker Walk is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026. The event takes place at Veterans Park, located at 4800 Valleydale Road in Hoover, Alabama. The event benefits Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue, a no-kill, cage-free shelter for cats and kittens.
Distances
The event features two distances:
- Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue 5K Meow-A-Thon
- Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue 1 Mile Whisker Walk (a fun run/walk)
Course & Schedule
The course at Veterans Park offers varied terrain, including fields, trails, and pavement. The event will be held rain or shine, with a delay possible only in cases of severe weather. Check-in begins at 7:00 AM. The 5K Meow-A-Thon starts at 8:00 AM. The 1 Mile Whisker Walk/Run starts at 9:30 AM, allowing time for 5K awards and for 5K participants to join family members for the shorter event.
Registration & Fees
Online registration is open through midnight on May 1, 2026.
- The 5K Meow-A-Thon entry fee is $25 (or $15 for children 10 and under).
- The 1 Mile Whisker Walk/Run entry fee is $15 (or $5 for children 10 and under).
- Day-of-race entry fees increase to $30 for the 5K and $20 for the 1 Mile walk/run (with children's fees also increasing).
Packet pickup is available on Friday, May 1st, at Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue (3432 Old Columbiana Rd, Birmingham, AL) between 12:30 PM and 6:00 PM, where in-person registration is also offered. Packet pickup and day-of registration will also be available at Veterans Park starting at 7:00 AM on race day.
Awards & Other Details
Prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female 5K finishers (1st through 3rd) and for age group winners (male and female, 1st through 3rd). T-shirts are not included with the 1 Mile Whisker Walk registration but can be purchased separately through the event's online store for pickup.
