Event Overview
The Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue 5K Meow-A-Thon and 1 Mile Whisker Walk is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026. The event benefits Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue, a no-kill, cage-free shelter for cats and kittens. It features two distances:
- 5K Meow-A-Thon
- 1 Mile Whisker Walk
Location and Terrain
The event takes place at Veterans Park, located at 4800 Valleydale Road in Hoover, Alabama. The park offers a varied terrain for running, which includes fields, trails, and pavement. The event is planned to be held rain or shine, with a possible delay only for severe weather.
Registration and Fees
Online registration is available through midnight on May 1, 2026. The entry fee for the 5K is $25, or $15 for children 10 and under. The fee increases to $30 on the day of the race, or $20 for children. The entry fee for the 1 Mile walk/run is $15, or $5 for children 10 and under. The fee increases to $20 on the day of the race, or $10 for children.
Packet pickup is available on Friday, May 1st, at Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue on Old Columbiana Road. Packet pickup and day-of registration will also be available at Veterans Park on the morning of the event.
Additional Information
Awards will be given for the top three overall male and female finishers in the 5K, as well as for the top three male and female finishers in each age group. A race T-shirt is available; however, sizes for registrations after April 15th cannot be guaranteed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
