Kirkcudbright Half Marathon & Buckland Burn Up - 23 May 2026

This event comprises a half marathon, a five-mile road race called the Buckland Burn Up, and short runs for younger participants. All races take place around Hope Dunbar Park in Kirkcudbright and use roads and park paths in and around the harbour town.

Distances include:

  • Half Marathon
  • Buckland Burn Up (5 mile road race / fun run)
  • Juniors Fun Run (approximately 1 km)
  • Mini's Dash (free on-the-day run for ages 4 and under, parental supervision required)

The half-marathon and Buckland Burn Up follow routes that pass seaside viewpoints, woodland sections, and farmland near Kirkcudbright. The juniors fun run is a short route around the park and parts of the town. The Mini's Dash is a brief, free event held on the day for the youngest children.

Walking entries are accepted for the half marathon and walkers have a separate start; the Buckland Burn Up does not offer official support for walkers this year. Walkers with dogs must keep them on a short lead and out of the way of runners for safety.

Venue access is via Hope Dunbar Park, easiest from St Cuthbert's Street near the town centre Tesco. Parking at the park is limited; additional free parking is available in town with a short walk to the start. Participants are asked to respect others, run at their own risk, and follow event signage and steward instructions. Closing date for entries is 18 May 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
