Isle of Jura Fell Race : event overview
The Isle of Jura Fell Race is a long fell race on the Isle of Jura in Scotland. The course covers 28 km, includes seven mountain summits and about 2370 m of ascent over technical, unmarked terrain. Organisers state that hillcraft and relevant mountain experience are essential for competitors.
Entries opened in early January 2026 and closed at the end of January 2026. The race will accept 250 starters and will operate a waiting list if entries exceed that number. Invitations to enter are issued in February and must be accepted with the entry fee paid by the end of that month.
All entries are vetted for adequate relevant experience. Acceptable evidence includes a Jura Fell Race completion in the last four years; two AL races in the last three years; one AL race plus a category A or above Mountain Marathon in the last three years; or one AL race plus two AM races in the last three years. Waymarked trail races or events that allow navigational aids such as GPX uploads are not regarded as adequate experience.
Check points 1 to 6 have strict cut-off times and there will be a 30-minute early start option for qualified runners who may struggle with early cut-offs. The entry fee is £53. Teams consist of three runners of the same sex from the same club and the club must be declared at entry.
Organisers ask visitors to minimise impact on the island, encourage leaving vehicles on the mainland and advise that a bike and a tent may be useful. A runners briefing will be emailed to successful entrants before the race and updates are posted on the event Facebook pages. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
