Kinder River Trek To The Source
This guided day follows the course of the River Kinder from its confluence with the River Sett in Hayfield upstream to the river source and the true summit. The route crosses the Kinder Plateau and weaves through a maze of cloughs.
Participants visit local landmarks along the way, including a fairy bridge, woodland, plunge pools and waterfalls, and learn about local mythology. After reaching the source and summit the route descends, offering further scenic views and photo opportunities.
The walk covers 15 km (10 miles) with a total ascent of 538 metres. Terrain underfoot can be rocky and may be boggy at times. The experience is led by a local Mountain Leader and is limited to a maximum of eight guests to keep group size small.
The experience is offered on scheduled group dates, including a listed date on 1 August 2026, and can also be arranged as a private booking for individuals, families, groups or company teams. Pricing information is published for small groups: between one and four participants the base fee is £160, then £40 for each additional participant, with a 10% discount available for groups of eight booked together. Pre-event notes are provided on confirmation to help participants prepare. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
