Event overview
The Mow Cop Killer Mile takes place on 7 May 2026 in Mow Cop. The course starts in Scholar Green and finishes at Mow Cop Castle Car Park. The organising partner is Mow Cop Runners and the headline sponsor is Chaffinch. Registration closes 5 May 2026. Road closures are planned on Drumber Lane, Station Road, Top Station Road, High Street, Lower High Street and Birch Tree Lane.
Entries and race categories
The event includes multiple races with age requirements and entry fees: Junior Race for Reception to Year Two (age 5-7) and Junior Race for Year Three to Year Seven (age 8-12), both with a fee of £6. Fun Run A and Fun Run B are open to ages 5+ with a fee of £12. The Prize Race is for ages 13+; the listed entry fee is £14 with an affiliated discount option. Participants aged 13 and older may run without supervision; those under 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Accompanying adults in the junior races can attend free without a race number.
Logistics, prizes and safety
Race numbers can be mailed before race day or collected in person on race day; pickup locations vary by race. Parking is limited to roadside spaces and several drop-off points in Scholar Green are listed. All participants receive a medal. The Prize Race offers cash rewards of £1,000 for a male record-breaking winner (record 6:12) and £1,000 for a female record-breaking winner (record 7:42). Age category trophies and junior goody bags and certificates are also listed. Medical support, volunteer marshals and road closures will be in place for safety.
