Kilkenny Medieval Marathon
The Kilkenny Medieval Marathon takes place in Kilkenny on 12 September 2026 and is listed as sold out. Races start from Abbey Quarter and finish at The Water Barracks. The route passes several historic sites within the medieval city before continuing onto surrounding country roads and returning to the finish.
Race distances include:
- 10K
- Half Marathon
- 30K
- Full Marathon
Water stations are provided, with the first at approximately 4 miles / 6.3 km and subsequent stops about every 3 miles / 5 km. Walkers may participate; the full marathon has a seven hour cutoff. There is a baggage drop area at the finish line; items will remain there until collected and will not be transported along the course. Race numbers are collected at The Water Barracks during the published pickup times and may be collected on behalf of another participant with a copy of their confirmation.
Parking is available in several city car parks including Dean Street, County Hall, Market Yard, and Ormonde Street multi storey; some spaces are limited and some areas are paid parking. On the day there is no race day registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
