Kilkenny Medieval Marathon
The Kilkenny Medieval Marathon is scheduled for 12th September 2026 in Kilkenny, Ireland. The event includes multiple race distances conducted on routes that pass through the medieval city and out onto surrounding country roads, with a finish line in front of Butler Gallery in the city centre. The race is described as Ireland’s 5th Medieval Marathon.

All finishers receive a bespoke medal and a technical t-shirt. Water stations are provided on course, with the first stop at four miles (about 6.3 km) and subsequent stops at roughly every three miles or 5 km. Walkers may take part; the full marathon has a seven hour cutoff.
Race numbers are collected at the Water Barracks MP3Q+QJ in Kilkenny. Number pick up is available on Friday evening from 18:00 to 20:30 and on Saturday morning from 06:30 up to one hour before each distance. Once the races start and city roads reopen, late starts cannot be accommodated. There is no registration on the day.
A baggage drop is located at the finish line. Baggage remains at the finish area until the owner collects it and will not be transported along the course.
