K.I.A. Memorial Roadmarch
The K.I.A. Memorial Roadmarch is a 10K march through Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park, NY. Participants may march, run, walk, or crawl as individuals or as part of a team while carrying rucks (backpacks) filled with nonperishable goods. As an alternative to carrying a ruck on course, participants may donate at least 30 lb of goods before the event; specific weight rules apply for certain categories.
The event includes a competitive KMR Challenge category for participants who want to race the course. Teams can also compete for the largest finishing team prize; the winning team has its name inscribed on the KMR BAT trophy and receives a replica to keep. Collected donations support veterans and local food pantries.
Finishers receive a medal, a Challenge medal is available for those entered in the Challenge category, and a T shirt is provided for the first 100 registered participants. Volunteer and team fundraising options are part of the event structure. The stated goal of the Roadmarch is to honor and remember members of the Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice while also raising food for veterans and local pantries.
