K.I.A. Memorial Roadmarch
The K.I.A. Memorial Roadmarch is a 10K march through Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park, NY. The event is organized for individuals and for teams. Participants may march, run, walk, or crawl while carrying rucksacks filled with non perishable goods, or they may choose not to carry and instead donate a minimum of 30 pounds before the Roadmarch. Rules about weight apply for certain categories.
The event includes awards and recognition items for participants. Finishers receive a medal, a T shirt is provided to the first 100 registered, and a separate challenge medal is available for those who register for the KMR Challenge. Teams compete for recognition as the biggest finishing team; the largest finishing team is recorded on the KMR BAT trophy and receives a replica to keep.
The Roadmarch states a charitable focus. It aims to honor and remember members of the armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice and to raise food for veterans and local food pantries. The event lists volunteer and team fundraising options as part of its activities. A competitive category, the KMR Challenge, is available for participants who choose to compete rather than participate casually. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
