37th Annual Kenneth Dolan 5K Run
The Kenneth Dolan Memorial Run takes place in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. This event is organized to support the Kenneth Dolan Memorial Fund at Iona University, which provides financial assistance for student education. The competition proceeds regardless of weather conditions.
The race course starts and finishes at Bartel Pritchard Square, located at 15th Street and Prospect Park West. Participants can choose between two main event types:
- 5K
- PEE WEE Run
The PEE WEE Run consists of several distance options based on age groups: a 100 yard run for ages 4 and under, a 220 yard run for ages 8 and under, and 440 yard runs for ages 10 and under and 12 and under. All participants in these junior categories receive a medal.
Categories for the 5K race include age-based groups ranging from 8 and under to 70+, as well as specific divisions for racewalkers, Iona University graduates, NYPD, FDNY, SDNY, teachers, and Clydesdale runners. Team competitions are also available for three-person teams across male, female, and masters divisions. Cash prizes are awarded to the top five overall male and female finishers.
The location is accessible by public transportation via the B68 and B67 bus lines or the F train to the 15th Street-Prospect Park Station. Registration and post-race activities, including food, drinks, and music, are held at the Holy Name of Jesus Church School Yard. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
