Kendal Castle Sprint Tri
The Kendal Castle Sprint Tri is a multisport event based at the Kendal Leisure Centre on Burton Road. The event is organized as a sprint distance triathlon and features a specific course layout that incorporates the local landmarks and ruins of Kendal Castle. Participants can enter the event as solo competitors or as part of a relay team.
The competition consists of three distinct segments:
- 400m pool swim
- 18.7km bike (excluding a 1400m neutral zone)
- 5km off-road run
The swim portion takes place in the swimming pool at the leisure centre. Following the swim, athletes transition to an out and back bike route that includes a timed-out neutral zone. The final leg is a 5km run conducted off-road. This route follows a section of the old canal before moving onto woodland trails and the grassy slopes surrounding the castle ruins. The race concludes back at the leisure centre.
The event is open to participants aged 15 and older. Roadworthy bikes of various types are permitted, including mountain bikes and hybrid bikes, provided the participant wears a recognized cycle helmet. Registration includes chip timing, free parking at the venue, a finisher medal, and professional photography. The event has a total capacity of 250 places and offers gender-specific waves including a women's category and an open category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
