Kanawha Trace Trail Run

The Kanawha Trace features multiple distances set in the terrain of West Virginia. Participants can choose between three distinct course lengths:

  • 50 km
  • 25 km
  • 10 km

The event takes place at Camp Arrowhead in Ona, West Virginia. The 50 km distance is a point-to-point race that begins in Fraziers Bottom and concludes at Camp Arrowhead. During the journey, runners move through three different counties: Putnam, Mason, and Cabell.

The course primarily consists of single-track trails. These paths were originally established in 1962 by connecting various former bison and Native American trails. The terrain includes a variety of natural features, such as ridges, bridges, and meadows. Participants will also navigate through creeks, tunnels, and pass a scenic waterfall.

The trail system is maintained by the Friends of The Kanawha Trace. This event represents a collaboration between runners and scouts to utilize the historic trail network. Registration for the races typically opens in December for the following March event date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
