Juneteenth 5K CommUnity Walk/Run
The Juneteenth 5K CommUnity Walk/Run is a community event organized by Smart Health Initiatives at Lowry Park in Tampa, located at 7525 North Boulevard and situated across from ZooTampa. The event honors the legacy of Juneteenth, highlights community health, and supports efforts to address type 2 diabetes.
The event combines movement with cultural and family-oriented activities. The program includes music, nutritious food options, and a Kidz Zone featuring an activation by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers team. Community partners and local organizations will be present to share information and resources. The 5K course includes a riverfront stretch alongside the Hillsborough River and a portion that passes through Rowlett Park as part of the walk route.
Registration for the listed categories is free. The 5K and walk are untimed and no medals are issued. Merchandise such as a commemorative bib and event tee is available for purchase, with proceeds directed to Fit Futures, a youth initiative that provides a run club, running shoes when needed, and opportunities for young people to participate in races across Tampa Bay. Fundraising support is collected for Fit Futures, with a stated funding goal.
Event partners and supporters named include TampaWell, the Tampa Bay Collard Green Festival, ProArc, and Flava Consulting. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
