Juneteenth 5K CommUnity Walk/Run - Lowry Park, Tampa
The Juneteenth 5K CommUnity Walk/Run takes place on June 21, 2026, at Lowry Park in Tampa (7525 North Boulevard), near ZooTampa. The event honors the legacy of Juneteenth, promotes community health, and supports efforts to address type 2 diabetes.
Registration is free for the main participatory options. The event offers the following distances and formats:
- 5K Run - untimed; no medals issued.
- 5K Walk - untimed, family-friendly participation.
- Freedom 1 Mile Fun Run - walk, jog, or run at your own pace.
The program includes music, nutritious food options, community partners, and a Kidz Zone anchored by a Tampa Bay Buccaneers activation team. Organizers describe a refreshed 5K course that includes a scenic stretch alongside the Hillsborough River.
Fit Futures is the youth initiative associated with the event; proceeds from commemorative bib and official tee sales support a run club, running shoes when needed, and opportunities for young people to participate in races across Tampa Bay.
Previous attendance was reported at nearly 400 participants. Sponsors and partners listed include TECO, TampaWell, Tampa Bay Collard Green Festival, ProArc, and Flava Consulting.
