Junebug Jog
The 37th annual Junebug Jog is hosted by William Newton Hospital and the Winfield Recreation Commission in Winfield, Kansas. Events start and end in the south parking lot at Winfield High School and the courses run mostly on residential streets. Packet pickup, finish line amenities, and awards take place near the school and at the Joe Vann Track.
Distances and course notes:
- 10k (6.2 miles) - two slightly different loops; water station at the 4-way stop on each loop.
- 5k (3.1 miles) - turnaround at the Kansas Veterans Home; one water station at the 4-way stop.
- 1-mile - turnaround at TP Hales Rd on residential streets.
- Jr. 100m dash - ages 8 and under at the Joe Vann Track; not timed.
Entry fees and participant items are listed per event. Registered participants in the 10k, 5k, and 1-mile receive a t-shirt, race bib, finisher medal, and finish line photos printed and mailed. Junior participants receive a medal and a small treat. Snacks and refreshments are provided at the finish area.
Event timing for the 10k, 5k, and 1-mile is digital and handled by TimerGuys, with placer medals awarded overall and in age-group categories from 10 & under through 60+. The 2026 event emphasizes the America250 theme, includes a Most Patriotic costume contest, and will donate $1 per participant to the Kansas Veterans Home Benefit Fund. The America250 Fitness Challenge follows on the Joe Vann Track with 250 exercise reps and a $250 prize purse. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
