Joy In Action
Joy In Action is a series of community events organized by The Joy Smith Foundation. Locations and dates listed include Steinbach on July 25, Brandon on August 8, and Selkirk on August 22, with an administrative address at 201 Portage Ave 18th floor, Winnipeg, MB R3B 3K6.
The program includes timed competitive runs, fun runs and walks, and a non competitive cycle from Selkirk Park to Netley Creek of 36 km. Timed runners receive digital finisher certificates and awards are given to top overall and age group finishers. Fun runs and walks include optional JOY Stations along the route and creative awards that recognize spirit and kindness.
Registration is available for individuals or teams. Youth ages 13 to 18 receive a CA$10 discount. Children 12 and under may register free when accompanying a registered adult; free registrations do not include the event shirt. Paid participants receive a premium technical event shirt and top finishers receive physical medals.
The event features a fundraising challenge to support prevention of human trafficking, with fundraising rewards at set levels and prize opportunities including an expense paid Tundra Buggy Adventure for two. Sponsors and partners are listed, including Southern Comfort Mechanical Inc, Frontiers North Adventures and Calm Air. Note that prices increase two weeks before each event.
