Old Tom Backyard
Old Tom Backyard is a Last Runner Standing race held on July 4, 2026 in Blumenort, Manitoba. The event takes place on an active family farm about 25 minutes southeast of Winnipeg. The race corral and staging areas are under an open-sided pole shed with room for crews and personal rest stations; tents may be set up outside. Some farm areas are off limits for biosecurity and pets are not allowed.
The race uses two loop types. The day loop follows winding treed singletrack and grass pasture trails. The night loop is an out-and-back along local gravel roads. Course maps are posted on the event website.
Entry fee is $175; early registration ends January 3, 2026. The field is capped at 75 runners. Participants must be 18 years or older on race day. Registration by April 30 guarantees a race T-shirt. Organizers provide water, ice, limited snacks, first aid and a custom medallion; participants must provide their own food as this is a self-supported event.
Key rules include finishing each lap within one hour, starting the next lap on the hour, no leaving the course mid-loop for support, no pacing and no artificial aids including poles. No open fires are allowed in the support area. The last runner able to complete one more lap than all others is the winner; failure to follow rules will result in a DNF.
