Jordan's Run the Runway 5K Series: Chatham-Kent
This charitable event takes place on the runway of the Chatham-Kent Municipal Airport in Merlin, Ontario. Organized to benefit the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario, the race honors the legacy of Jordan Strickland by supporting local access to YMCA camps and community programs. The course is noted for being flat and fast, suitable for various modes of participation.
Participants can select from the following options:
- 5K Run, Walk, Roll, or Pole
- Kiddie Trot 1K (approximate distance, not timed)
- Virtual 5K (completed on a personal schedule and location)
The 5K event on the runway is a chip-timed race. The course starts and finishes directly on the airport tarmac. Following the physical activity, a reception is held in an airport hangar featuring food and drinks, alongside a presentation of prizes for the top three male and female finishers. Specific registration categories are available for high school students.
This race is part of a four-event series with other locations in St. Thomas-Elgin, London, and Sarnia-Lambton. Discounts are available for those who register for multiple events in the series, and participants completing three or more races receive an exclusive finisher item. The event proceeds rain or shine.
