Jonesy's Run
Jonesy's Run is an annual fundraising event held at Lakewood Park South in Tecumseh, Ontario. The event is organized in honor of Bob Jones and benefits The ALS Society of Windsor-Essex County, supporting local research and patient services. The races take place on the paved trails around the park's perimeter.
Participants can choose from several distance options:
- 5K Run: a distance consisting of three full laps around the park's outer paved trail.
- 5K Walk: three laps on the paved trail, starting separately from the runners due to path width.
- 1K Bomber's Kilometre: a run or walk for children aged 14 and under on paved and gravel trails.
- 200m Ace's Kids Dash: a sprint for children on the paved trail involving a 100m out-and-back route.
Registration is capped at 400 participants. The first 400 registered individuals receive a finisher's medal and a limited edition T-shirt. For safety reasons and due to the narrow nature of the trails at Lakewood Park, strollers, baby joggers, and pets are prohibited. The event utilizes electronic chip timing and includes water stations with volunteers along the course. Awards are presented to the top three male and female runners overall, as well as the first-place runners in various age categories ranging from under 10 to over 80.
