Jonesy's Run : Tecumseh, June 27, 2026
Jonesy's Run takes place on June 27, 2026 at Lakewood Park South in Tecumseh. The event includes a 5 km run/walk plus two shorter kids' races on paved and gravel loops around the park.
Distances:
- 5 km : three full laps of the park's paved outer trail.
- 5 km walk : three laps of the paved outer trail.
- 1 km : kids run/walk for ages 14 and under.
- 200 m : short kids dash on the paved trail.
The main route uses the park's paved perimeter trail. Because the trail is narrow, run and walk starts are staggered and participants are responsible for counting their own laps on the 5 km course. Electronic chip timing will be used; a follow-up bicycle will accompany the last participant and a display clock will be at the start/finish. Water stations with volunteers and a PA system will be provided.
The event is held in honour of a local coach who died from ALS in 2024; all proceeds support The ALS Society of Windsor-Essex County to assist people living with ALS and to support research. Registration is limited to 400 participants; the first 400 registrants receive a finisher medal and a limited edition T-shirt. For safety, strollers, baby joggers and pets are not permitted.
