About the race
The 17th John’s Baby Steps is a community event on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Kinnick-Feller Riverside Park in Adel, Iowa. The event combines a timed 5K, a 1-mile memory walk, and a kids fun run for participants ages 12 and under. Virtual participation is available for those who cannot attend in person. Distances: - Timed 5K - 1-mile memory walk - Kids fun run (ages 12 and under) Registration options are tiered: early registration is $25 by September 10 and includes a t-shirt; after September 20 the fee is $30 with t-shirts while supplies last.
Students through 12th grade are $15. Ages 12 and under may participate for free without registration unless a timed 5K result is requested. Packet pick-up is offered the day before at Adel Public Library and on site at Kinnick-Feller Park. The event includes gender and age group awards in the categories 19 and under, 20 to 40, and 41 and older.
Food and refreshments will be available. Angel Story Boards will be on display to honor infants and young children. Kids activities are presented by the Adel Kiwanis Club.
