Course, rules and logistics
Distances for the triathlon are:
- 600 m swim
- 13.8 miles bike
- 5 km run
The swim is a triangular course with start and exit at the shoreline and uses a time trial start with athletes seeded by race number. Swim caps are provided in race packets and must be worn; cap color indicates swim start position. Wetsuit use is allowed when the water temperature is below 78 degrees, as determined by a USAT Official on race morning.
The bike is a clockwise loop on smooth paved county roads with rolling to flat terrain, marked turns, and mile markers every two miles. The run is a loop that begins around the park lake on paved trail, continues on unpaved park road and paved county road to a turnaround, and finishes across the paved road on the lake dam.
All races are USAT sanctioned. Approved helmets are required. No drafting and no blocking rules apply. All participants must be USAT members or purchase a one-day license ($15). Transition bike racking follows assigned race numbers and athletes will be body marked with number and age. Course maps are provided in race packets.
