Course and rules
Distances:
- 600 m swim
- 13.8 miles bike
- 5 km run
The swim is a triangular course with the start and exit at the shoreline and is conducted as a time trial with athletes starting in race number sequence at short intervals. Wetsuit use is determined by the USAT Official based on race day water temperature; wetsuits are legal when water temperature is below 78 degrees. The bike is a clockwise loop on smooth, paved county roads with rolling to flat terrain, marked turns, and mile markers every two miles. The 5 km run is a loop that includes a flat paved trail around the lake, an unpaved park road, and a paved county road, finishing across the lake dam. The duathlon uses the same bike and run courses; the aquabike uses the same swim and bike courses and aquabikers receive a green wrist band. Races are USAT sanctioned; approved helmets are required, drafting and blocking are prohibited, and participants must have USAT membership or purchase a one-day license ($15). Parking is inside the park gate with attendants directing vehicles; it is a short walk to transition and a photo ID is required at registration.
