Ocean Beach Road Race
The 64th annual edition of this event features a 13.1-mile course along the Connecticut shoreline. The route utilizes well-marked roads through the City of New London and the Town of Waterford. Participants run past panoramic vistas of the Long Island Sound on a course that begins and ends at Ocean Beach Park.
The half marathon is limited to the first 1,000 entries. While registration is free, participants are requested to provide a food donation for the Gemma E. Moran United Way Labor Food Center. The course officially closes at noon.
Amenities and Logistics
The event uses chip timing to provide accurate results for all participants. Awards are presented in standard age divisions, and a team competition is available. On-site services include pre-race and post-race physical therapy.
Post-race activities take place at the park, which features a 3/4 mile long sugar sand beach and a boardwalk. Participants have access to refreshments including clam chowder and various beverages.
