Joey's Wings 5k & Kids Obstacle Run

Event details

The Joey's Wings 5K & Kids Obstacle Run takes place on November 15, 2025 at Santa Fe College (Charles R. Perry Construction Institute), Building O, NW 91st St, Gainesville, FL 32606. The event is organized by Joey's Wings Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity established in 2014. Proceeds for 2025 will go to local pediatric cancer families and the foundation states that donations support research and treatment options, parent support, and advocacy.

Registration fees listed before November 2: 5k (ages 13+) $30; 5k (12 and under) $25; 1 mile Obstacle Run $25. Registration for some options closes in mid-November; fees may increase after pre-registration ends.

Race features and awards

Registration includes chip timing, a race shirt, and a specially designed 3D origami crane medal with gator-color ribbon. On-site activities include food from local restaurants, raffles, music, and family activities such as a bouncing house, face painting, and crafts. The 1 mile Obstacle Run features hurdles, parachute, agility ladder, noodles and volunteer support; winners in obstacle age groups receive a one-week summer camp prize from a local provider.

Results are chip-timed and published immediately after the run. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group: 6–11, 12–18, 19–49, and 50+. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
