Event Overview
JJ's Journey for a Cause is an event held to honor JJ and raise funds for research into Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The event will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Wendell, North Carolina.
Event Details
The event features four different options for participation:
- 5 Miler
- 5K
- Kids Fun Run
- Virtual 5K
All in-person events are scheduled for the same day. The 5 Miler starts first, followed by the 5K. The Kids Fun Run is a color run on a short course (less than one mile) aimed at elementary school-aged children. The Virtual 5K can be completed by participants anytime between June 1 and June 7.
Post-Race Celebration
After the races, participants are invited to stay for a celebration featuring music, snacks, balloons, and other entertainment.
Fundraising
All proceeds from the event will be donated to First Candle, an organization that supports bereaved families and funds research to help end SIDS.
Awards and Shirts
Awards are presented by Pace Yourself Run Company. They will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top male and female finisher in each age division. A race t-shirt is included with registration, but the deadline to guarantee a specific shirt size is May 9, 2026.
Packet Pick-Up
Packet pick-up is available on Thursday, June 4, at Pace Yourself run store, and on Friday, June 5, at the Farmhouse Cafe in Wendell Falls. Race-day packet pick-up is also available, but participants are advised to arrive early. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
