About the race
The Jelm Mountain Run is scheduled for September 12, 2026 in Jelm, WY. The event is a mountain road run of roughly 10 miles out and back on improved jeep roads, with a total elevation change of more than 2,000 feet.
The course starts near 7,600 feet and climbs to the Infrared Observatory on top of Jelm Mountain at about 9,656 feet. The route stays on the road the entire way and has no course markings. Aid is provided at two locations: one aid station roughly halfway up or down the course, and one at the top; aid stations will offer water and light snacks. Participants are asked to bring their own water bottle, cup, or hydration bladder to reduce waste.
Registration information: general entry is listed at $55, increasing to $65 on September 1. Race day registration is available for a higher fee. The listed entry price includes a Jelm hoodie. Registration closes on September 10. Parking is available on the west side of the highway near the start location.
Proceeds from the event are donated to the Albany County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, an organization that relies on grants and community fundraising to support volunteer search and rescue operations in the county. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
