It Takes A Village 5K
The It Takes A Village 5K is an annual running event held in the Village of Hamburg, New York. It is the third edition of the event, which was established to celebrate the village's 150th anniversary. The event is hosted by the Hamburg Central PTSA, with all proceeds directed to the Hamburg Central School District to support school clubs, activities, and sports. It also serves as the season-ending event for the local Bulldog Run Club.
The race starts and finishes on Union Street in the Village of Hamburg. The 5K course is USATF certified. The event offers professional timing using RFID technology.
Registration fees are age-based. For participants 12 and under, the fee is $15 (increasing to $20 after May 27, 2026). For those 13 and older, the fee is $35 (increasing to $40 after the same date). An official event t-shirt is guaranteed for registrations received by 9 p.m. on Monday, May 25, 2026.
Awards are given to the first overall male and female finishers. Age group medals are awarded for the following categories: 6 and under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and up. Custom finisher certificates are available for download after the event.
Packet pickup and race day registration are available outside Union Pleasant Elementary School on Union Street. Early packet pickup is planned for the day before the event at the same location. There is ample free parking available in the village, including municipal and school parking lots. The event has a no-refund policy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
