Island Lake Triathlon, Duathlon & Aquabike
The Island Lake event is held at Island Lake State Recreation Area in Brighton, Livingston County. The park covers about 4,000 acres and combines open brush, mature hardwood forest, and pockets of open meadows with paved roads and rolling hills. Swims take place in Kent Lake, bikes follow tree lined rolling roads, and the run finishes toward the lakeside.
The event offers multiple race formats with measured swim bike and run distances, including:
- Olympic Triathlon: 1500 meter swim, 24 mile bike, 6.2 mile run
- Sprint Triathlon: 750 meter swim, 12 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
- Mini Sprint Triathlon: 400 meter swim, 12 mile bike, 1.5 mile run
- Olympic Aquabike: 1500 meter swim and 24 mile bike
The program also includes a sprint duathlon, Olympic and sprint relay options, and timed open water practice swims at 1 mile, 800 meters, and 400 meters.
